Summer Camp Success!
We are thrilled to report the success of our recent raffle fundraiser, which was held earlier this summer. Thanks to the generous contributions of our supporters, we raised close to $900. These funds went directly to supporting our Summer Camp, which allowed us to extend the program by an entire week and ensure the children received nutritious meals daily, including rice, beans, and vegetables!
Our Summer Camp Program ran from August 12th to August 30th and over 200 children participated! The camp offered a range of activities from educational workshops, doing nails, making jewelry, painting, yoga, playing soccer, and much more! Volunteers and local staff worked tirelessly to ensure each child had a memorable and enriching experience. The joy and enthusiasm of the children were palpable, and their growth throughout the program was truly inspiring. Keep an eye on our social media to see some pictures from camp!
Haiti Update
In recent weeks, Haiti has experienced a rare moment of peace with a ceasefire agreement brokered between rival gangs in the Port-au-Prince area. This crucial development has brought a reprieve from the violence that has plagued many neighborhoods, allowing our team to work more effectively in these communities. However, reports from our team in Haiti indicate this ceasefire is only temporary and serves to unite the gangs to fight against the UN and the Haitian government. While we are grateful for the ceasefire, the future is still uncertain with talks of UN Peacekeepers replacing the Kenyan forces.
