It’s Haitian Heritage Month!
Haitian Heritage Month is a celebration in the US of Haitian heritage and culture. This takes place in May as an expansion on the celebration of Haitian Flag Day, which occurs on May 18th. Haitian Flag Day is a Haitian holiday celebrating the creation of the flag during the Haitian Revolution. Happy Flag Day and Happy Haitian Heritage Month!
We are expanding our Health and Wellness Programs!
As a Haitian-led non-profit, our Haitian team members have reflected on our organization’s growth and the current needs of the communities we serve. We have decided to focus our efforts on enhancing our sports program. Due to the current state of affairs, more children have been partaking in gang activity. We want to provide children with another option and give them a place to participate in organized, safe, and fun activities. Sports and yoga not only give them this opportunity but also serve as a way to keep their minds off of the rising gang violence in their community.
Soccer
Thanks to your generous donations, we have been able to purchase essential equipment such as uniforms, cleats, shin guards, practice equipment, nets, balls, cones, and agility ladders. These resources will enable us to involve more children and organize soccer teams and tournaments. Our goal is to provide them with a structured and engaging outlet that promotes teamwork, discipline, and healthy competition.
Yoga
In addition to purchasing equipment for soccer, we have been able to purchase more yoga mats, giving more children an opportunity to partake in yoga. Yoga offers numerous physical and mental benefits, including improved flexibility, strength, and stress relief. We aim to provide children with holistic wellness practices that promote overall well-being and resilience.
None of this would be possible without your unwavering support and generosity. Your investment truly makes a difference in the lives of children in Haiti, empowering them to thrive and reach their full potential.
